Revivify and Peace Love Knowledge (PLK) are forming a new Partnership!

A life-changing component of Self-care is giving back to our communities. We believe that giving back aligns with our brand and who we are as individuals. I came across PLK after seeking opportunities to give back to my community. A few years had passed since I sought service opportunities, but I was delighted to find Motivate a Skid Row Resident!

“Giving evokes gratitude. Whether you’re on the giving or receiving end of a gift, that gift can elicit feelings of gratitude—it can be a way of expressing gratitude or instilling gratitude in the recipient. And research has found that gratitude is integral to happiness, health, and social bonds.” (Jill Suttie, Jason Marsh of University of California Berkeley)

After booking my spot and serving with them, I met the founder of PLK Delia Gonzalez. We hit it off immediately! I felt like we already knew each other and

we worked alongside a small team of fantastic volunteers from the morning to the early afternoon. As we worked alongside Skid Row residents, we prepared cover letters, resumes, and filled out job applications. One of the pleasant surprises was that some people just wanted to sit and chat! They shared their stories and ambitions, and filling out the resumes turned out to be a great icebreaker!

PLK is a nonprofit that provides programs and activities to bring communities together through their core values. They promote the voice of the people to make the changes they want to see in their communities.”  (Delia Gonzalez Founder of PLK)

For over three years, PLK helped empower Skid Row residents through their pop up Motivation Center, where they offer the same services I had the chance to help out with when I met Delia.

Revivify plans to support PLK’s efforts of getting space on Skid Row, bettering the community, and helping residents find jobs by donating 10% of our profit. We know that volunteering face to face can be a bit difficult at this time. So if you would like a safer option to help support our local community, we have provided a way to directly donate to PLK through our checkout process, giving you the chance to join in supporting them as you shop with us!

We look forward to supporting Peace Love Knowledge and empowering the Skid Row community together! Let’s keep making a difference together while we practice a life changing component of self-care—giving back.
